On the 19th of September 2023, the University Library conducted its 2nd Annual Fair with the theme “Celebrating Cultural Diversity and Knowledge”. The event aimed to welcome all UPLB students as they embark on a new academic year and at the same time, promote the resources and services of the library. The CVM/IAS-CAFS Library and other unit libraries joined and participated in this exciting event of the University Library. Each one had their own booth and conducted fun and exciting activities for students.
The CVM/IAS-CAFS Library happily welcomed all the students who visited their booth. Students were introduced to VALERIE, the virtual reference assistant of the Library. It was the first Library Fair that VALERIE participated in. Visitors were surprised when they finally met her in person as they were greeted by Valerie’s standee clad in a flight attendant attire at the booth entrance. The library also provided free Valerie stickers, Valerie Merch, and other exciting prizes for the students. The library did not miss the opportunity to invite students to their upcoming Meet and Greet activity at the CVM-IAS communal building on September 25 and 26, 2023.
To add to the excitement, the library encouraged the students to participate in a game called “Chop Stack”. The players had one minute to stack marshmallows using chopsticks. The game was a bit challenging and all the players enjoyed it.
Overall, the Annual Fair of the University Library was a huge success. The fair became an exciting avenue for students to explore and engage in fun-filled activities. The CVM/IAS-CAFS library is indeed looking forward to joining the next library fair, and Valerie is excited to meet and greet more students in the next activities of the library.
