CVM/IAS Library Online Portal

The CVM/IAS Library Online Portal is the one-stop-site of all the online services of the library. It is an online platform that will guide library users on how to avail the services of the library. All requests can be sent using this portal including setting up an appointment for library visits and reservation. This feature is definitely helpful, especially in today’s new normal set-up.

The CVM/IAS Library Online Portal was created and introduced last August 8, 2020. The portal is divided into four categories: 1) view of online resources, 2) online requests service, 3) set an appointment, and 4) contact librarians for other concerns. In the new normal setting, users are just a click away from the CVM/IAS library services through this portal.

For the available online resources/database, a list of links for in-house, subscribed, or open access databases is provided. However, for library users to access these resources/databases outside, they have to also request an OpenAthens account.

The Online Request Services cover all requests for eResources, Turnitin account, and literature search. Creating a Turnitin account is helpful as a plagiarism checker tool. The library provides assistance in downloading specific chapters of eBooks, eJournal articles, and only selected portions of eTheses. Limited downloading is followed due to copyright issues. Literature search requests, with a minimum of 10 articles, will be emailed within 3-5 working days.

Another service of the library is setting up an appointment for the borrowing of the print collection, ID validation, and clearances. This service is essential to control the volume of library users at one time. Lastly, contact details of the library are provided so that users can reach the library according to their own preferences.

The online portal has been updated to become more engaging and less time-consuming in filling up needed information. A user can select one or more services in a single sign-up. The library services were divided into four categories namely: Account Creation and Authentication, Request of eResources, Reference Services, and Appointment Services. The request for iLib, OpenAthens, and Turnitin account falls under Account Creation and Authentication while assistance for hard to obtain resources and scanning of print materials may be processed through Requests for eResources. On the other hand, the Reference Services compose the guide to available resources, contact details of the library, literature search request, and one-on-one tutorials. Lastly, the Appointment Services is for book reservation, book return, seat reservation, and clearances.

The library client is free to choose which service to avail of. Indeed, this portal is the user’s online gateway to all the variety of online services being offered by the CVM Library.
